Q&A 12 - WHITED SEPULCHERS
Q - When considering the "born again" process of the seed discussed in your previous Q&A, would the sterile seed be somewhat like the whited sepulchers in Matthew 23:27?
A - Indeed they would. Yeshua is speaking to the scribes and Pharisees here when he says: "27) ... ye are like unto whited sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28) Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity."
The "born again" process is indelibly linked to Belief upon Yeshua. Those who depend upon their righteousness alone to ascend to eternal life will eventually have to confront the need for the sacrificial blood of Yeshua to cover their sins. Without that blood, even one sin separates a person from God and appears as dead men's bones within that one's seed sepulcher. Someone may have a "form of righteousness", and even be very good person, but righteousness which is not based upon the foundation of Yeshua is wood, hay and stubble (I Corinthians 3:11-15), and likened to filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). It can never be sufficient to satisfy the mandates of divine law. Please refer to the chapter titled Going Home in our Nether Nuggets online book for further understanding of the need for this blood atonement. The seed which endures the consuming fire will be whited (purified) in the flames. All evil will be destroyed, and the mindset which fostered the unbelief will be likewise vanquished, much as the hard drive on a computer can be reformatted. However, the telltale bones of death will remain within the sepulcher (seed), and life within such seed may be extinguished throughout eternity.
